1st Annual American Art Freedom Awards Announced

VUGA Foundation today unveiled the inaugural American Art Freedom Awards, a landmark gala recognizing defenders of artistic liberty and champions against foreign interference in the United States. The black-tie dinner will be held at Mar-a-Lago in late October or the first week of November 2025 and will draw lawmakers, arts patrons, and human-rights advocates from across the nation.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Shawn Ryan, former Navy SEAL and host of the top-ranked Shawn Ryan Show podcast will deliver keynote addresses. Honorees include Leeshai Lemish, Shen Yun master-of-ceremonies who was beaten and expelled from China after a peaceful Falun Gong protest; Representative Chris Smith (R-NJ), author of the House-passed Stop Forced Organ Harvesting Act of 2025; and Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR), sponsor of Senate bill S. 761.

"With escalating attempts by authoritarian regimes to silence artists and sway U.S. policy, celebrating these courageous individuals is both timely and vital," said Victoria Unikel, artist, philanthropist, and founder of the VUGA Foundation.

The evening aims to raise funds to fund further action in support of American artist independence from foreign influence, with all additional proceeds going to support the Foundation's art residencies and free public exhibitions. Sponsorships range from $50,000 to a $300,000 Presenting Sponsor package, which includes full naming rights.

President Donald J. Trump will be invited to attend, schedule permitting.
