The Artist in Residence program is the heart of VUGA Foundation's commitment to contemporary art. We provide dedicated studio space and residential housing to aspiring and established artists so they can devote themselves — without the distractions of rent, commute, or funding anxiety — to creating new work that advances the Foundation's mission.
Residents are selected for the strength of their practice and the relevance of their voice. We look for artists whose work speaks to the causes we hold close: equality, justice, mental wellness, and global peace. During their residency, artists produce new pieces, collaborate across disciplines, and often contribute to the Foundation's public programs — exhibitions, workshops, and community events.
What we provide
A fully equipped studio. A safe, quiet place to live. Access to the Foundation's network of curators, collectors, and partner institutions. Guidance on exhibition opportunities and international press placement. Freedom — because freedom is what makes great art possible.
Who we look for
Emerging and established contemporary artists whose practice engages with social, political, or cultural themes. Painters, sculptors, mixed-media artists, photographers, and interdisciplinary practitioners are all welcome to apply.
